ABOUT
Stella Marie Lorenz is an award-winning pianist for song and chamber music. Recent performances include recitals at Wigmore Hall, the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden London, the Leeds Lieder Festival, the State Opera La Monnaie de Munt Brussels and the Musikverein Vienna. She is a prizewinner of the Copenhagen Lied Duo Competition, the Historic Female Composers Competition and the Help Musicians UK Postgraduate Award. Since 2024, she is a Live Music Now Artist with her duo partner soprano Helen Lacey.
In 2023, she was Young Artist at the festival Song Easel London and received a scholarship from the Wagner Society Vienna. She has an Advanced Diploma with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music London, where she studied with Malcolm Martineau, Michael Dussek and James Baillieu, and where she regularly coached singers. She previously studied with Markus Hadulla at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, and with Gerold Huber and Roger Vignoles. She holds a Bachelor in Piano solo at Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, Germany.
Stella loves to create concert programmes that engage and catch the audience by exploring well known works with pieces by female, POC and queer composers as well as contemporary music.
For 2024/25, Stella won the Gilbert & Eileen Edgar and Anthony Saltmarsh Collaborative Piano Fellowship at the Royal College of Music London and will therefor work as the pianist for the wood wind and brass department.
